I am the managing partner of Lehmann PLC (formerly Lehmann Strobel PC). With over 25 years of experience as an attorney and business consultant, I have represented independent producers, artists, and writers, as well as museums and arts and cultural organizations of all kinds. I am also an appraiser of fine and decorative art. I have served on the board of directors of numerous arts-related nonprofits, including the Landis Valley Museum Associates and the North Museum of Natural History and Science, where I also served as interim Curator of Collections. A regular contributor to scholarly and industry publications, I am a co-author of Rights and Reproductions: The Handbook for Cultural Institutions (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018) and the author of Museum Administration: Law and Practice, 2nd Edition (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022). I am a frequent participant in conferences, workshops and other arts-related presentations and programs. I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses on art and museum law and ethics at Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, Mitchell Hamline Law School, Case Western Reserve Law School, and the University of Miami School of Law. I have been on the faculty of the ABA continuing legal education course “Legal Issues in Museum Administration” and served as Co-Chair of the ABA IPL Copyright Policy Committee. I have completed the Appraisal Institute of America’s Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program and am a Candidate for Associate Membership in the Appraisers Association of America. I am USPAP compliant through January 24, 2027.
